GENACIS Newsletter

Greetings, GENACIS Friends!

We are pleased to send you the latest issue of the GENACIS newsletter.  As always, the newsletter contains stories about activities and accomplishments of GENACIS members, GENACIS-related meetings during the past year, and information about the June 3-7 KBS Symposium in Kampala, Uganda.  This will be the first KBS Symposium held in Africa.  We are proud of and grateful to GENACIS members Nazarius Tumwesigye and Rogers Kasirye and their colleagues at the Makerere University School of Public Health for organizing and hosting this historic meeting.

We understand that some of you will not be able to come to Kampala because of the distance, travel expense, and other reasons.  We hope that the newsletter features about Kampala, including photos from the November 2010 KBS thematic meeting and a listing of papers that will be presented this year by GENACIS members, will help you share vicariously in the “Kampala experience.”

The GENACIS R01 Consortium (co-investigators of the R01 grant) and individual GENACIS members are actively seeking continued funding for future GENACIS research.  We hope that such funding will be available by the time of the next KBS Symposium, which will be held in Torino, Italy, June 9-13, 2014.

We look forward to seeing many of you soon in Kampala.  Best wishes to all for a pleasant and relaxing summer!

Warm regards,

Sharon (for the North Dakota team)
